The Pintabian descended from the legendary horses of the Arabian desert who lived in the tents of their Bedouin owners, so prized they were treated as family.  Infused with the tobiano gene acquired through a single outcross, then continually bred back to purebred Arabians for a minimum of seven generations, Pintabians are over 99% Arabian in blood and breed true to their ancestry.  The beautifully refined head, short and strong back, arched neck, level topline, distinctive tail carriage, intelligence and endurance possessed by the Pintabian horse sets him apart from all other spotted horses, and these traits combine with his tobiano spots to set him apart from every other breed.

The Pintabian is a pure breed as well as a distinctive one.  It is not a cross breed, nor is it a fad.  It is the result of decades of dedicated, selective breeding over the course of many generations. We here at Frostfire Farm are blessed and honored to have dedicated over fifteen years of our lives to these unique and breathtakingly beautful creatures.

At Frostfire Farm, our horses are handled and live their lives as naturally as possible.  We live in an idyllic and beautiful setting here in Minnesota, but the climate is ever-changing and the temperature can vary from 100 degrees in the summer to 40 below zero in the winter.  Even so, our horses spend most of their time outdoors.  With the exception of the most brutal weather conditions, they live at pasture and as horses should... as a herd.  They receive regular vaccinations, deworming and hoof care.  They do not wear shoes because, as our farrier said last fall, they "have the best feet he's ever seen".

The Pintabian horses of Frostfire Farm are intelligent, willing, docile and easily trained.  They seek out and enjoy the company of humans.  We imprint the foals at birth, and handle them using natural methods throughout their lives.  Our twelve-year-old daughter regularly handles all of our horses (with supervision, of course), and both she and her younger sister ride the herd stallion, Creedence Sunspot.  Our horses completely and thoroughly debunk the myth of the "spooky, flighty, tempermental Arab".  Rather, they are beautiful, versatile, gentle, stylish, steadfast and tough.  Our Pintabians are family horses extraordinaire, and yet with little more than a bath and some hoof polish, can stand up in the show ring and beautifully represent the breed with style and charisma.

We invite you to look around our site and check back often as we add to it daily.  As Foundation Breeders of the Pintabian horse, and Lifetime Members and supporters of the Pintabian Horse Registry, Inc. nearly since its inception, we proudly represent the breed and invite your questions and inquiries.
